
Dehorning removes horns from cattle to improve safety and management, ideally done young via disbudding (< 8 weeks) to minimize pain and risk. Techniques include caustic paste application, hot-iron cautery, and surgical removal (scoops, saws) for older animals. Pain management, such as local anesthesia, is highly recommended for all methods.
